This report provides a simple guide to the latest trends in absence in the UK manufacturing sector. We examine both the absence rate and the average number of days lost per employee – across all employees, and manual and non-manual employees separately. Additionally, there is national and regional analysis, plus breakdowns by size of company and manufacturing sub-sector.

The 2018 figures are based on responses received from 192 manufacturing organisations which employ a total of 37,217 employees, and covers the period from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018.
