Welcome and introduction
Case Law Update
Hear from our experts about some key employment law decisions in the last six months and how these might impact on your practices. In particular, we review a couple of interesting EAT cases on unfair dismissal for gross misconduct which shed some light on when it may (or may not!) be safe to dismiss, as well as a case concerning employers’ ability to dismiss employees in receipt of PHI benefits.
Everyone needs a holiday
We provide a recap on workers’ rights to paid annual leave, focusing on some tricky FAQs around when workers can take their leave and when they might have a right to carry forward untaken leave into the next holiday year. We’ll also look at the heightened importance of encouraging workers to use their leave entitlement – both for their own wellbeing and to avoid potential legal liabilities later down the line following some new case law!
Where are we with?
As Brexit day approaches, we look at the latest news on EU and non-EU migration. We also give you the lowdown on other (non Brexit) policy and legislative developments, including the Government’s consultation on ethnicity pay gap reporting, its “Good Work Plan” proposals in response to the Taylor Review and the introduction of parental bereavement leave.
