Migration Matters: understanding the UK’s immigration policy as we leave the EU

An immigration seminar for HR to get to grips with the impact of the ending of free movement rights for your workforce and how to get Brexit Ready.

  • Why attend?
    • Get Brexit Ready
    • Understand the settled status process in the UK for EU nationals
    • Understand the future UK immigration system and how UK nationals will enter Europe
    • Learn about the changes to the right to work checks
  • Programme
  • Registration and coffee: 9:30 to start at 10:00am.

The seminar will cover the Government’s plans for immigration both if there is a deal and also if no deal is agreed for Brexit, set for 29 March 2019.

We will look at the settled status scheme, which is the system whereby nationals already in the UK before Brexit can apply for permanent settlement in the UK. These EU workers will have until the end of June 2021 to apply for permanent settlement in the UK.

We will consider the availability of settled status for those who arrive after Brexit where a deal is reached and the immigration policy that would apply between Brexit happening and a new immigration system being introduced, expected in January 202, where no deal is reached.

Not forgetting that UK workers in Europe and UK workers you intend to send to Europe are also affected after Brexit. What will this look like?

We will also consider what message you should give to EU candidates who apply for roles with your company and what right to work checks you will need to carry out on your new EU workers.

Close 12:00pm. Lunch is optional should you wish to stay for a bite.
