The UK manufacturing sector has yet again demonstrated its importance to our economy in 2020. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic the sector has risen to the immediate challenges and responded - staying operational and protecting as many jobs as possible, all while continuing to lead from the front on the big issues impacting us all like digitalisation and climate change.
Our 2021 policy campaigns have focussed on:
- Building a strong industrial base
- Start up to scale up
- Digital and green
- Navigating our new partnership
In first half of 2021, by backing UK manufacturing and its people, we have shown that we must strengthen the UK’s industrial base to deliver shared and inclusive growth, across our regions and economy. Through our extensive efforts, we have secured a number of policy wins for members. This has supported them recover from the pandemic, begin to take their first steps in the race to net zero, adopt new technologies in their businesses, and build workforces for the future.
