The UK Defence, Aerospace, Shipping and Rail sectors are enhancing their strategic importance to the long term health of the UK economy, providing high value, high skill jobs right across the country.
The sectors account for over £12bn in manufacturing output which accounts for almost 5% of total manufacturing. This supports 207,000 jobs directly and indirectly, with the value of these jobs highlighted by the fact the average salary worth more than £45k which is more than a quarter (27%) above the manufacturing average.
