    Case Law Update

Hear from our legal experts about some key employment law decisions from the last six months and how these might impact on your practices. In particular, we consider some recent cases on technical devices and disciplinary proceedings, in which the courts grappled with employees’ right to privacy in the workplace, covert recordings and the use of social media. We also take a quick look at a couple of recent holiday pay cases and a case concerning an employer’s pay offer to individual employees where collective negotiations with the union had broken down.

    Mental health at work

We address the hot topic of mental health at work, including consideration of the increasing costs to business and potential legal liabilities for employers when employees suffer from mental ill health. We also take a look at targeting wellbeing initiatives to support employees’ mental health and provide tips on drafting a Mental Health Policy for your organisation.

    Where are we with?

We give you an update on key policy and legislative developments, including proposed increases in protection from redundancy for women on maternity leave, changes to the tax regime for contractors engaged via personal service companies (IR35), the Government’s latest consultations ‘Health is everyone’s business: proposals to reduce ill health-related job loss’ and ‘Good Work Plan: proposals to support families’. We will also look at the implications of Brexit.
