Employment Law Update - Autumn 2024

Join us to hear from our legal experts about key employment law decisions from the last six months and how these might impact on your practices, as well as important forthcoming legislative and Government policy developments that are relevant to HR. We are holding face-to-face seminars at our regional offices and a webinar for those who would prefer to attend remotely.

Details

  • The Labour Government has said that it plans to deliver “the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation”.  Our legal team will look at the legislative proposals contained in the new Employment Rights Bill and the Equality (Race and Disability) Bill and consider additional plans contained in the Government’s New Deal for Working People.
  • In our case law update, we will consider the fairness of a redundancy dismissal where the employer failed to consult about its choice of a pool of one. We will also look at a case which explored whether an employer’s failure to consider the possibility of redeployment before dismissing a disabled employee made the dismissal unfair. In addition, we will review a decision which looks at discrimination during disciplinary proceedings.
  • The in-person events will also include a practical section about recruitment processes, with a focus on health and disability issues.  (Note that this section will not be included in the webinar session.)
