Banksman and Yardshunter training

This one-day course teaches delegates about the safe passage of reversing vehicles in confined spaces.

It combines classroom-based learning with practical exercises to help delegates learn to identify on-site dangers. This course is aimed at yardsmen, yardshunters, banksmen, traffic controllers and depot supervisors. By completing this course, delegates will meet the legal requirements under the Health & Safety At Work Act and Workplace Transport Safety HSG 136. This course is run by an accredited instructor. 

Course content

  • Awareness presentation
  • The mechanical principles of reversing
  • Promoting site safety
  • Identifying dangerous areas within a site
  • Demonstration of HSE/RTITB recommended code of signals
  • Reversing around obstacles
  • Reversing 90º left and right
  • Legal considerations.

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Assessment

No assessment but delegates receive a certificate of attendance.
