Managing the Disciplinary and Grievance Process

This half day course is designed to assist all levels of management who may be required to undertake misconduct investigations, disciplinary and/or grievance hearings and appeals to do so with confidence and in accordance with legal requirements.

Course content

The Law – The basics of Unfair Dismissal Law and the ACAS Code of Practice to enable attendees to understand why procedure is so important.

Informal v Formal – How and when to apply the informal approach to resolution and to determine when a more formal approach is required.

The 3 Stage Process in Handling Misconduct – An overview of the 3 stage process of Investigation, Disciplinary Hearing and Appeal along with tips on how to conduct each stage.

Handling a Grievance – Understanding what a grievance is, informal and formal approaches to resolution and tips on applying the formal procedure of Hearing, Investigation, Outcome and Appeal.

There are no pre-requisites for this practical course.

Assessment

There is no assessment but delegates receive a certificate of attendance.
