NEBOSH national certificate in construction health and safety

This course is designed to provide a knowledge and understanding of managing health and safety in a construction environment. It is suitable for non-specialists in health and safety who wish to obtain a nationally recognised qualification in construction health and safety. This could include managers and supervisors, safety representatives and those responsible for employee safety. It will also benefit health and safety practitioners who need to refresh their skills and knowledge of construction health and safety. Make UK’s NEBOSH accreditation number is 001, indicating that Make UK is the first accredited body to deliver NEBOSH training nationally and internationally.

  • Course content
  • This is a two week course on Construction Health and Safety (NCC1). This additional course is designed to provide a knowledge and understanding with respect to managing health and safety in a construction environment.

    Candidates must successfully complete all three of the following units to achieve the overall qualification:

    • Unit NGC1 – management of health and safety. This module is common to the NEBOSH national general certificate in health and safety and must be taken separately (five days)
    • Unit NCC1 – management of construction hazards (ten days)
    • Unit NCC2 – Construction health and safety practical application

    The entire course covers:

    • Construction law and management
    • Construction site – hazards and control
    • Movement of people and vehicles – hazards and control
    • Manual and mechanical handling – hazards and control
    • Work equipment – hazards and control
    • Electrical – hazards and control
    • Fire – hazards and control
    • Chemical and biological health – hazards and control
    • Physical and psychological health – hazards and control
    • Working at height – hazards and control
    • Excavation work and confined spaces – hazards and control
    • Demolition – hazards and control.
     
  • Pre-requisites
  • Unit NGC1 – management of health and safety. This five-day module is common to the NEBOSH national general certificate in health and safety and must be taken separately. It is beneficial for you to complete NGC1 before you start the construction modules and it must be completed within the last five years to gain the qualification.

  • Assessment
  • Each candidate will be required to carry out a practical assessment in the workplace (NCC2) and an exam NCC on completion of the course. The NCC1 exam and NCC2 practical assessment are completed after this 10 day course.
