Safety training for power press setters

The power press training course covers the statutory information requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 as applied to power presses and to bring delegates up-to-date with current legal demands. It enables delegates to establish a sound knowledge of power press functions and operation, and develop a positive approach to safe working methods and procedures.

    Power press mechanisms

    • Clutches - positive and friction type
    • Brakes
    • Safety devices including types of guards, testing and maintenance

    Causation and prevention of accidents

    • Recognition of possible causes of accidents at the power press to both toolsetter and operator, due to particular features of power presses

    Tool design and its influence on safety

    The work of the toolsetter and his/her responsibilities in the safe use of power

    Presses and safe methods of working

    Safety on press brakes

    • Types of guarding
