Commenting on the trade deal signed with South Korea, Stephen Phipson, Chief Executive of Make UK, The Manufacturers’ Organisation, said:

"This is a welcome step which, if confirmed soon, will hopefully kick start the process of signing further trade agreements with other vital trading partners. Industry is living with constant uncertainty at the moment and agreements such as this will reassure companies at a time of great stress in global trading conditions.

"Manufacturers have considerable hunger to reach out into global markets. By pressing ahead with signing transitional trade agreements with our major trading partners, Government will help smooth the way to help companies expand and create new opportunities overseas as we exit the EU."
