Make UK has appointed Susan Kohler as its new Director of Governance and People Engagement, joining the organisation’s Executive Board today, 2 November 2026.

Susan Kohler brings extensive experience from the Civil Service and, most recently, the British Transport Police Authority, where she had been Head of Governance and People. In her new role, she will lead Make UK’s people agenda while helping to further modernise the organisation’s approach to governance and social value.

Her appointment comes as Make UK continues to develop the organisation to ensure it can deliver for manufacturers across the UK and support the long-term success of the sector.

Stephen Phipson CBE, Chief Executive of Make UK, said:

“This is a vital role for Make UK and we’re absolutely delighted that Susan is coming on board. Our people and the way we do business are central to everything we want to achieve for our members.

“Susan has an outstanding track record of leading people and governance functions in complex organisations. Her experience will be invaluable as we continue to modernise, grow and deliver for manufacturers across the UK.”

Susan Kohler, Director of Governance and People Engagement for Make UK said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Make UK as Director of Governance and People Engagement. Make UK plays a vital role across UK manufacturing and engineering by shaping policy, supporting sector leadership, developing skills and apprenticeships and providing practical services that help businesses thrive.

“This is a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues and members to strengthen our governance, modernise how we work and enhance people delivery so we continue to support people to succeed.”
