Make UK partners with The Quorum Principle to boost UK manufacturing
This exclusive three-year alliance brings innovative, strategic approach to UK manufacturers as industry seeks to improve competitive position

Make UK has today announced an exclusive three-year training partnership with The Quorum Principle Limited that offers UK manufacturers an innovative collaborative approach to improving operational performance.
The partnership addresses critical challenges facing UK manufacturing, which last year experienced a drop from 8th to 12th position globally in terms of value of output, despite contributing more than £200 billion annually to the UK economy and creating more than 40% of UK exports.
The Quorum Principle seeks to improve manufacturing performance through a dual approach, which improves collaboration between manufacturers and their key solution providers by breaking down silos within manufacturers, and driving more collaborative working among solution providers.
Under the partnership agreement, Make UK will serve as The Quorum Principle’s dedicated training partner for the UK market, providing members with access to its training programme, and The Quorum Principle with access to its venues.
UK manufacturers face unprecedented challenges in maintaining competitive advantage in an increasingly complex global marketplace.
“The Quorum Principle’s approach to breaking down internal silos and fostering better collaboration with solution providers directly addresses fundamental issues that continue to hinder operational excellence in our sector.
"This partnership reflects both organisations’ commitment to addressing these fundamental challenges, and further expands our members’ access to cutting-edge methodologies that enable the sector to maintain its position as a global leader.

Over 30 years working across major consulting firms, technology companies, and manufacturing operations, I’ve seen first-hand how internal silos and fragmented supplier relationships stop manufacturers from reaching their full potential.
“While many global Industry 4.0 initiatives focus on technical interoperability, the Quorum Principle focuses instead on organisational interoperability, which is key to breaking the current paradigm and unlocking manufacturing’s potential.
“I want the UK to lead the way in this, and our partnership with Make UK provides the perfect platform to bring this transformational methodology to UK manufacturers who recognise the need to take a different approach to operational excellence.

Robinson’s background includes senior roles at Kearney, SAP, EY, Atos, and Schneider Electric, together with more a decade in manufacturing. This diverse experience enabled him to identify the collaborative approach that forms the foundation of The Quorum Principle in 2020.
By providing the training programme free of charge to Make UK manufacturing members, the partnership removes the financial barriers to access, while enabling solution providers to deliver better outcomes for their manufacturing customers.
