Gas Safety

The use of inflammable and toxic gases combined with oxygen have long been an integral and commonplace part of welding and cutting techniques in industry.  It is so widely used that sometimes people forget about the dangers which results in many people seriously injured or killed each year by the incorrect or careless use of oxy/fuel gas equipment. 

Course content

During this course the delegates will carry out the following:

  • Health and Safety regulations and approved codes of practice
  • Awareness of the latest standards and practices
  • Process hazards
  • Storage and transportation of cylinders
  • Correct operating pressures, regulators and gas flow velocities
  • Composition of gases
  • Correct flames

Pre-requisites

Delegates do not require any previous experience of operating oxy/fuel gas equipment.

Assessment

Whilst there is no formal assessment on this course, delegates will need to demonstrate a safe working knowledge and understanding oxy/fuel gas handling and operations. Observational feedback on delegates will be given by the instructor and, on successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.  Performance feedback can be provided to the Customer if required.
