As National Membership Director at Make UK, Jim and his team help thousands of manufacturers to solve some of their biggest challenges – whether that’s how to benefit from Industry 4.0, actions to take to mitigate supply chain challenges, or how to use the apprenticeship levy to upskill the workforce.

A qualified Engineer, Jim has held manufacturing, production engineering and operations roles. He was also senior manufacturing specialist whilst at the Manufacturing Advisory Service where he delivered consultancy support to businesses which enabled them to make huge improvements in their productivity and competitiveness.

Dawn Huntrod is an accomplished senior leader and serves as Regional Director for the North of England at Make UK, where she leads the regional membership team. With a strong background in manufacturing, she is passionate about driving innovation, productivity and growth.

A committed STEM Ambassador, Dawn inspires and engages the next generation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Her career spans a diverse range of roles, including hands-on experience in manufacturing through project order management and senior, high-profile recruitment roles. Alongside this, she has worked extensively in business coaching, supporting individuals and leadership teams to achieve their full potential. Known for her pragmatic, can-do attitude, she brings focus to challenges.

Dawn has experience delivering high-profile, publicly funded programmes that generate community impact. She holds board and advisory roles, including ADMAN Liverpool, The Productivity Institute, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, Durham University Strategic Advisory Board, and the Made Smarter boards.

Chris is the main industrial ambassador for the Midlands & East of England, engaging with stakeholders to represent manufacturing business views, including with the media, local & national government, High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centres, Mayoral Combined Authorities, and the Bank of England.

A central part of his role is leading engagement with Make UK members, supporting them to grow and succeed by maximising the full range of services available. This also includes facilitating bespoke introductions, providing industry insight, delivering a programme of events and networking opportunities, and ensuring members’ voices are clearly heard in policymaking.

Additionally, Chris also has oversight for Make UK’s Affiliate Partner network of sector-specific trade association and regional cluster networks across the country, ensuring all four corners of manufacturing are represented with the highest levels of UK government.

Recognised as part of the Class of 2023 in The Manufacturer Top 100, Fiona is a passionate advocate for diversity within STEM and is committed to creating more inclusive pathways into industry. Throughout her career, she has championed programmes and initiatives designed to attract more diverse young people into manufacturing, engineering, and apprenticeship routes, helping to address skills shortages and broaden participation across the sector.

 Fiona is particularly passionate about using technology and innovation to enhance education, improve accessibility, and bridge the skills gap between education and industry. Her work continues to focus on building stronger connections between employers, educators and future talent across the South manufacturing landscape.
