Prioritising Safeguarding

As an apprentice, you are not just learning skills for a job. You're also developing personally and professionally in new environments.

For us safeguarding is about protecting your wellbeing and making sure you know where to go if you ever have concerns about your safety, or the safety of someone else.

In this section we explain how we work together with apprentices and our employer partners to create a safe and positive environment, and how support is available whenever you need it.

Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

Safeguarding is a fundamental priority within our organisation. As an apprenticeship and skills training provider, we are fully committed to creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment in which all learners - including apprentices, young people and adults - can learn, develop and thrive.

We recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Safeguarding is embedded throughout our culture, policies, procedures, and day-to-day practice. All staff and employers share responsibility for protecting learners from harm, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and radicalisation.

We ensure effective safeguarding through:

  • Robust safer recruitment procedures
  • Regular safeguarding and Prevent training for all staff
  • Strong partnership working with employers to safeguard apprentices in the workplace
  • Promotion of online safety, wellbeing and mental health support

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We are committed to maintaining a vigilant, transparent and learner-centred safeguarding culture across all aspects of our provision.

Make UK is committed to preventing radicalisation and extremism. In line with the Prevent duty, we:

  • Promote fundamental British values
  • Train staff to recognise signs of radicalisation
  • Assess local and online risks
  • Provide learners with safe spaces to discuss concerns
  • Any concerns relating to radicalisation are reported through safeguarding procedures.
