Clear summaries of the legal reforms
To help you digest these, the Planner highlights the measures in the Act that we consider to be of most relevance and interest to employers and their main impact for HR processes.
Expected timelines
So you can stay ahead of key implementation dates.
The measures in the Act will take effect in stages - some within two months; some from April 2026; some from October 2026; and others in 2027. The Planner clearly sets out the proposed timelines so you can plan for the staged implementation.
Key concerns
To help you understand the impact of what’s changing.
The Planner highlights for each relevant measure in the Act what we think will be the key impact, concern or consequence for employers.
Policy review actions
So you can identify which HR policies and other employee facing documentation will need reviewing and updating.
It goes without saying that the Act will require many HR policies, employment contracts and other employee facing documentation to be changed. Sometimes this will require tweaks, sometimes you will need to make major changes. The Planner identifies the main HR policies and documentation that will need to be reviewed. (Note that we will be updating Make UK templates of all our relevant polices/documents in the HRL Resources section of the Make UK website, once we have all the necessary information to do so.)
Training needs
So you can equip your teams with the right knowledge about changes to the law and your processes.
You need to ensure the people dealing with issues and making decisions know what’s changing under the Act. This means training HR and your people managers on all the new requirements. In addition, some changes, for example in the EDI sphere, will require you to train your wider workforce. The Planner details where training needs arise.
Other actions
So you can take practical steps to prepare for and comply with the measures in the Act.
The Planner illustrates various other actions an employer should consider in light of the legal changes, including audits, costs and risk assessments, bolstering employee engagement, process reviews, record keeping, workforce consultations etc.
