About us
Ellis Briggs is a traditional bicycle manufacturer and framebuilding workshop in Shipley. Founded in 1936, we still build, repair and restore steel bicycle frames using specialist fabrication and brazing skills. Framebuilder Paul Gibson also teaches practical framebuilding and campaigns for the preservation of endangered manufacturing skills.
How we will be involved with National Manufacturing Day:
We will open our workshop for small guided visits, showing how a steel bicycle frame is made. Visitors will see the tools, materials and processes involved in precision fabrication and brazing, with practical demonstrations and a chance to ask questions about manufacturing, apprenticeships and careers in skilled work.
