The Make UK Aluminium Special Interest Group focuses on important issues for our members and the wider UK supply chain, recognising the need for a sustainable source of domestically produced and processed aluminium.

Our mandate is to speak with the Government and wider political and policy stakeholders about why aluminium is pivotal for the UK economy and the action we need to see to ensure that this hugely versatile material has a secure future in the UK.

The UK is one of the world's leading producers of aluminium, and the companies investing in this area are helping to deliver an increasingly critical and green industry for national supply chains and the economy.

Our members don’t just make cans for the fizzy drinks, or foil for your Sunday roast; they make window frames, caravans, aeroplanes, vital infrastructure, cars, phones, laptops, defence infrastructure and more.

As you might have guessed, aluminium is often the bit we don’t see in the things we use and the goods we consume every week, but that doesn’t make it any less important. In the drive for long-term economical prosperity and sustainability, aluminium is a crucial material.

The Make UK Special Interest Group on Aluminium focuses on the issues that concern producers and processors of aluminium across the UK. The membership came together to ensure a cohesive voice that spoke to the criticality of aluminium production and processing to UK supply chains, be they civil or defence, and the growing importance of this sector to the UK.

Despite the challenges seen as an industry, there are opportunities to grow in the UK and we play our part in speaking with the UK Government and international partners to better ensure the UK benefits from the opportunities there to be taken.
