Commenting ahead of today’s vote on the Withdrawal Agreement, Stephen Phipson CEO of Make UK, the manufacturers’ organisation said:

“Make UK has consistently supported the Government’s Withdrawal Agreement. It removes the risk of no deal and delivers a sensible transition period which is vital for the needs of manufacturers.

Manufacturing businesses are telling us every day that the current uncertainty means that they are losing contracts, failing to attract investment and many have real concerns for the long term survival of their businesses.

Our sector directly employs almost 3 million people, contributes almost half of all UK exports and is heavily reliant on supply chain relationships with companies across the EU. As a result we call on Parliament to restore clarity today, and end the ongoing uncertainty which is doing so much damage."
