Commenting on today's announcement of Border implementation delay, Stephen Phipson, CEO of Make UK, said:
“These easements are a welcome recognition of the difficulties faced by manufacturers as they negotiate our new relationship with the EU. We would like to see now the same easements applied on the EU side to give businesses time to adjust properly.
“To that end, we would encourage the Government to get back around the table with our European partners to see if similar pragmatic solutions can be found to ease the flow of trade as companies on both sides of the Channel struggle to recover from the crippling Covid crisis.”
